Quick Question...

I wonder how many right-wingers who aren't part of the 1% and extremely wealthy and able, have traveled outside of our country and experienced the world. I KNOW some if not most of us would change our tune about healthcare, refugees, climate change, etc. if we lived in or experienced another part of the world for even a short amount of time.

It's enraging to me how many conservatives (my family included) think they know anything about the state of the world--about what's right, what should be done about a HUMAN struggle and plight--when they have never experienced anything other than their bubble of life in America meanwhile "learning" everything from the news. Does no one ask questions anymore?
If that's not ignorance, I'm not sure what is, and the sad thing is that we're all guilty of it.

So this is what it was like leading into WWII...

I stumbled across this gem today on Facebook. The shit people have been posting recently is beyond saddening and disturbing. Thank god (I use the term loosely) that some people still have sense in the world and can see beyond their ignorance and fear.

Well said Person Anonymous. Makes you stop and think, "Hmm, this is a scary freaking path we're on." But here's my question: isn't all of this more about HUMANITY than just being American? I guess we have to start somewhere. It's past time we put our money where our mouth is, just saying.

Earth Hour Disappointment...

The City of Napa committed to turning off all unnecessary lights from 8-9p.m. during Earth hour a few weeks ago. It was something discussed and agreed upon during a town meeting. An official city document was signed in agreement to their support and a local high school environmental science class was satisfied by the support of the city for a matter that was very important to them.

The city of Napa never participated, even after signing an official document stating their participation. So, one of the environmental students wrote to the local newspaper and was verbally thrashed by the people of Napa and the disparaging words against her.

This was very surprising to me and I was actually appalled that the town would condemn a high school student for being upset with the city after breaking their word. Check it out!

Back in the Day...

My parents always say that back in the day they had to walk five miles in the snow with no shoes, over the river and through the woods....Well guess what, they 'aint jokin'!

This is an authentic photo of ranchers here in the Napa Valley during the 1800s. Wow, I guess it would have killed them to smile, but then again, what was there to smile about?

I Need Motivation

It is time to take a break...to venture out into the wilderness, away from the traffic and busy streets, away from the average and mundane routine of everyday life of school and work. I need to be with Nature again. I need to be surrounded by the beauty of Mother Earth and become grateful once again for life, remembering and appreciating what the world has to offer outside of the social and economic pressures of human existence.

What is my purpose? What do I like to do? What do I want out of this life? How can I be happy? It is time for some serious self-reflection and creativity to awaken the real me.
